Why do menus need photos?

A photo menu puts a real picture of each dish beside its name. Diners can see portion size, what comes on the plate and how it is served, which a name and a line of description cannot show. That means fewer surprises at the table and faster decisions.

What a photo answers that words cannot

Is the burger the size of a fist or a plate? Does the curry come with rice? Is the salad a side or a meal? One picture settles each of these before you spend the money.

Why the date matters

Kitchens change. A photo taken two years ago can show a plate that no longer exists. A useful photo menu says when each picture was taken, and gets refreshed when a dish changes.

Real photos, not generated ones

A generated image of a dish shows what a computer thinks the dish might look like. It cannot tell you what this kitchen serves. Only a photo of the real plate can.

Quick answers

Do photos make people order more?

Restaurants often report that pictured dishes sell more, mostly because diners feel sure about them. We do not promise a number.

Are diners' own photos allowed?

Only where the person who took them allows it. We ask, or we use photos published under terms that permit it, and we credit them.
